Winter in Paris is a sea of grey, black and navy, with perhaps some beige, and my everyday uniform usually blends in: a scruffy old ski jacket (black) with jeans (navy) and snow boots (beige). I spotted this coat while riding the escalator in Le Bon Marché and pulled the world’s fastest u-turn to comedically run back down the wrong way to admire it. My perfect shade of pink, I hesitated for at least 10 minutes before trying it on (partly because I was wearing an airline pyjama top as a sweater), unsure that something so beautiful could be mine.
