I woke rather late Monday morning in Cambridge to some lovely bonne fête messages as it was my name day in France. Lots of names have one but as I’m not used to the concept I always forget them, which is a shame as it’s an excellent way to earn brownie points. I padded downstairs for tea and crumpets with my dad, stepmom, brother and sister-in-law and then settled in to watch the Queen’s funeral the most English way I know how, with a dog on my lap. All the UK's major public-service networks aired Her Majesty’s final send-off except Channel 5, who chose to show The Emoji Movie, so we had a choice of commentary. My favourite line came from Australian presenters who failed to recognise new UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, saying "we can't spot everyone, unfortunately, they look like they could well be local dignitaries, it's hard to see".
