Faire le Pont
There are 11 public holidays each year in France, so many that they don’t even bother to ‘replace’ them if they fall on a weekend. In the likely event that a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, many people font le pont (make the bridge) and take an extra day off to create a 4 day weekend. This week Thursday was a public holiday and school, crèche and many companies were closed on Friday so we spent an extra-long weekend en famille.
