Every time I open my social media or check the news there’s another mention of a delayed flight or lost bag and travelling at the moment seems pretty grim, so I wanted to give a realistic rundown of our experience for anyone travelling soon. (TL:DR our experience was fine, no delays, no lost bags, lots of stress, check in online wherever possible, print everything and arrive super early).
We haven’t been overseas in three years so it was with a bit of trepidation that I prepared for our trip but I was so homesick that I’d probably have rowed a boat if that was the only option. We booked our tickets in February and after hours on skyscanner, lots of back and forth on WhatsApp and careful consideration of the school holidays we went with Qatar Airways, because they were the cheapest and had the shortest travel time (23 hours 15 minutes flight time including a 1.5 hour stopover in Doha).
