Having run triathlons in a past life it was a rude shock that the most exhausted I’ve ever been was after shepherding my daughter’s class to Parc de Sceaux for their annual end of year picnic.
Your opening paragraph made me laugh. While teaching my 8th grade English class and discussing THE CATCHER IN THE RYE, I had the “brilliant” idea to take them on the NYC subway from Brooklyn to the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan so that we could see in person all the items the main character, Holden Caulfield, talks about in the novel. They didn’t want to look at anything, but they loved the ice cream truck outside the museum! I learned my lesson!
I only met you once, at a previous Substack event years ago, so I'm sorry I didn't recognize you at this week's event! I would have said hi. I love your posts and I always learn something from you (like that I should get the SNCF Carte Avantage!).
Terrific mails. Might I sugest you visit the Poteger Menil in 11eme with an outstanding selection of bio producets - from mangos to pepper to salade .... everything and the prices modest compared to other bio food locations. This is also a training school for those unemployed or underemployed so they are comfortable running such a business. I live near ESCP so appreciate even more the location and appreciate the purpose of the bio center. The guide is Mme Clarice and a short distance away is the boulanger of bio breads and items.
Please continue with your The REAL EMILY IN PARIS! MERCI!
Thank you so much for the link to Nagi's site, the recipes look delicious. I love that you have added links, although almost $200 for a hairbrush 😱? As for taking small children on a trip, especially involving trains, you need a medal. When I see teachers and parents with huge groups of young children on the tube in London, I am in awe. I think Miss Clavel was a white witch.
