We all know Italians have cornered the coffee market but summer caffeine is where they really knock it out of the park. Each time I come here I’m stressed about being separated from the huge milky lattes I live on (I know I know…) until the moment I sit down for my first shakerato and all is well again.
In the past few days I’ve indulged in my favourite affogatos and coffee granita soaked into whipped cream (I’m thinking of starting a hole-in-the-wall serving these in Paris if anyone wants to go halves in a little seasonal business), whiling away the hottest hours of the day under an umbrella. An almond granita with a shot of coffee puddling at the bottom, crema al caffè, gelato al caffè and tiramisu also get an honorable mention.
Wherever you are, and whatever the weather, I hope you make one of these easy, refreshing drinks below.
