Monday was a public holiday here in France so I rounded up the kids and headed to the Jardin du Luxembourg for an afternoon in the sun with some family friends I’ve known forever. We jostled with the rest of the city for a place on the small lawn designated for picnics before taking our chances with a sailboat on the high seas (the round pond) and with one glance made a silent pact not to mention the playground, knowing the chaos that would be going on over there. This wasn’t our first rodeo.
