I kicked off the week with a catering gig at the Australian Embassy, where they were hosting a cocktail party to celebrate the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project, an intergovernmental radio telescope involving 14 member countries that will be one of the largest scientific endeavours in history. I admired the gentle golden light hitting the Eiffel Tower as I arrived and paused for a minute to laugh at the huge Tourism Australia poster on the side of the building announcing “Australia is open again and we’re waiting for you”, wondering if my Mum somehow paid them to put it there.
