The last few days before we left Paris for the holidays were packed with eleventh-hour errands, wrapping up big projects and home organisation (we had guests staying while we were away) and it was with great pleasure that I set my Out Of Office message. With the snap Eurostar strike swiftly managed we showed up at Gare du Nord with 10 bags, a ridiculous amount of cheese and boarded our train for the quick journey, having to explain to the children why they couldn’t see any fish out the window as we sped under the La Manche (unsurprisingly the French don’t call it the English Channel).
