Having grown up in Australia, it always surprises me that ‘back to school’ is in September, not in January as we do it down under. In France it’s called la rentrée and it’s for adults too, who return to work after long summer vacations. It’s a huge deal and from mid-June onwards you can put off just about anything until après les vacances, the only downside being that once September rolls around there’s nowhere left to hide and you have to finally tackle everything you’ve successfully avoided off all summer.
