We celebrated my son’s birthday with family dinner and he blew out the candles watched on by us, some grandparents (due to a large blended family we have a variety to mix and match depending on who is free/in the country) and Noisette on strict duty below the table to collect any stray crumbs. I knowingly didn’t follow the rules when baking the cake and instead tossed everything in the mixer together (cold butter and all), paying the price with an incredibly dense result that I obscured as best as possible with an avalanche of icing and berries.
