I indulged in one of my favourite activities this week, a boat ride on the Seine where under each bridge children shrieked with laughter as we moved sedately along, past monument after monument, doing a quick spin in front of the Eiffel Tower before returning to the dock. While of course it’s lovely to see famous landmarks my eyes are always drawn to the real estate lining the banks, daydreaming of floor to ceiling windows, perhaps an old artist’s loft bathed in sunshine of the biggest prize of all, a roof terrace decked out with plants and a sun lounger.
