I pounced on some sour cherries recently and made a delicious galette. For the filling, I followed the instructions from Jacques Pepin's Sour Cherry Tart recipe. Here's a link to recipe from NYTimes Cooking: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/10988-sour-cherry-tart
Thanks for the link. We pick many kilos of pie cherries every year. You can’t have too many recipes. Deb Perelman has an excellent crumble-topped pie and David Lebovitz has several cherry recipes for compote, jam, sauce, which can be frozen and eaten all winter long.
Make Sour cherry sorbet. Making sorbet in my ice cream maker, because I know what ingredients are in it: fruit, sugar and water. If you don’t have any recipes for that, Martha Stewart has several for various fruits,
Love this recap! You win with latest Xmas tree cast-out photo! June is truly absurd; I saw one in May last year and thought I had “won” between my friends and I 🤣🥰
My hubby makes a cherry relish/chutney that is perfect for pork or lamb. If you're more of a dessert person, a simple quick cherry sauce to serve with vanilla ice cream!
here I am, late to the party so everyone already posted the best recipes anyway.. not that I had such a great one as I l o v e regular sweet cherries and only bought sour ones by accident once, which immediately went into a very easy and delicious cake you can make with any stone fruit and also apples. I am sure it works with gluten free flour as well: one cup each of flour, either self rising or add baking powder, sugar, butter and ground hazelnuts or almonds (walnuts will do as well), 3-4 eggs depending on size, egg whites beaten.. I start by fluffing up butter and sugar, then adding the yokes one by one, then dry ingredients and egg whites, sprinkle the fruit on top once in the mold, it will disperse while baking, and sprinkle some more sugar on top.. bake about an hour, insert a toothpick to see if it’s done.. voilà!
I am certain the cherries are gone by now anyway as your lovely children seem to devour anything 😂
your newsletter is THE funniest, without even trying to be comical, or you had me fooled completely.. if I make it to Paris one of these days I will certainly be in touch for a tour, and if you make it to Vienna please whistle so I can show you around! used to work as an official tour guide after hanging up my managerial cloak and had children.. too old now at 79, but hey, isn’t 80 the new 60?? ❤️❤️
