Lovely post, a great start to my day! Your title and opening paragraph made me laugh. I’ve learned so much on living in Paris and France through your and David Leibovitz’s writings over the years - merci!

I wrote David Lebovitz but autocorrect changed it and I hadn’t noticed until after posting - grrr!

I’ve made the same mistake myself!

Worse still: On at least two occasions when I’ve posted a comment on David’s substack “Romain” has been autocorrected to “Romaine” — like the lettuce. So embarrassing.

You sound so calm as the holidays approach at breakneck speed. Kudos!

Our very large family circle celebrates the season in different ways, making for a frenetic December, with the patriarch and matriarch (my husband and I) close to complete collapse as I write this. When I got a flat tire a few hours ago and learned that the car must be towed by a special type of tow truck—for which I had to wait for a couple of hours—I was nearly brought to tears as I thought about the 12 people showing up for a gala dinner chez nous at seven this evening.

Time for the younger generations to take over holiday festivities, I think! (Whine, whine, whine.)

Your posts are always a high point of my week. Thank you!

Wishing you and yours the very happiest of Christmases.

I would have been in tears too! Hope the car and the dinner are both on track now. Time for the new guard to take over, use this year to set it in motion (and pass in your favourite recipes). Merry Christmas!!
